Occupational Therapy Services

Occupational Therapy is a wholistic therapeutic service that helps children reach individual goals and developmental milestones that improve their daily life. Goals typically focus on fine motor skills, sensory processing, executive functioning skills, and self-care.

In nature-based occupational therapy, the natural environment is used as a therapeutic tool to help children obtain their goals. Nature is sensory-rich and constantly changing, which provides an opportunity for children to challenge themselves in new ways each session. Nature helps us to be in a calm, but alert state, which is the best state for learning new skills!

One-on-One sessions with children and their parents to address individualized goals. Parents will be coached throughout the therapy session so they can learn techniques to follow through with therapy at home and in the community.

Individual occupational therapy sessions held within our forest school sessions. Children will attend for the 3-hour forest school session and have a 1-hour individual session with an occupational therapist. For the remainder of the forest school session, they will have support from a therapy assistant to continue supporting their occupational therapy goals.

Forest Academy accepts Indiana Medicaid or the Indiana Education Scholarship Account Program, or private payment. If private payment, documentation can be provided to submit to private insurance payors.
